BEGINNERS QUILTING CLASS WITH MARG LOW

Service Description

Learn how to select, cut and piece fabrics together to make a beautiful small quilt top. The Coconut Ice quilt pattern measures 44x48" and is a very achievable and ideal beginners quilt. Quilting terms such as Fat quarters, inch seams, batting and quilting will be explained. You have the option of booking into each class individually so you can work on the quilt at your own pace. You can book all three, or start with just one! CLASS 1 — Gives participants the skills to cut out the fabrics, layout the top and piece it together at home. 9 August 10am or 6pm, 12 August 10am or 13 August 2pm. CLASS 2 — Is available for anyone who would like to piece the quilt top in class with Margs guidance and in the company of others. 23 August 10am or 6pm, 26 August 10am or 27 August 2pm. CLASS 3 — Covers preparing the backing fabric, quilting and binding. 6 September 10am or 6pm, 9 September 10am or 10 September 2pm. Please bring the following to the class: • Ruler 6½" x 12" • Rotary Cutter (45mm blade) • Sewing machine with a ¼ inch foot • Sewing Kit (eg. pins, scissors, lead pencil) Bring your own, or kits will be available to purchase. Please email us if you would like to purchase a kit. Specific requirements for class: • Sixteen Fat ⅛’s (for the top) $50 • Coconut Ice Pattern $10 Bundles of Sixteen Fat ⅛’s in various colour ways will be available to purchase on the day. Please email us if you would like to purchase a fabric bundle. To complete the quilt: We will discuss the completion of the quilt in class, here is a list of what is required in advance. • 30cm for the binding • 1.9 metres backing fabric • 1.4 metres batting* My quilts are professionally machine quilted. *The batting is supplied by the quilter.
